Expiration

Oil Pastel on Paper, 2024

Inspired by Wong Kar-wai’s Chungking Express, this series reimagines the humble pineapple can as a vessel for memory, longing, and emotional preservation. Each panel isolates the object through shifting angles and intimacy, echoing the film’s obsession with time, expiration, and ephemeral connection. Rendered in saturated greens and blues, the cans become more than just leftovers — they are containers of tenderness, waste, and forgotten intimacy.

Through repetition and scale, Shelf Life reflects on what we consume and what we try to keep — even after its meaning has expired.
