Poem Dang *

Poem Dang is a multi-media visual artist and first-year student at Princeton University whose practice explores the intersections of material culture, memory, and identity through painting, drawing, and mixed media.

Her recent work investigates the aesthetics of consumption and the fragmentation of self—transforming discarded objects, mass media, and language into vessels of critique and emotional resonance. Rooted in both personal history and shared cultural symbols, she examines how desire is packaged, preserved, and ultimately unravels.

Raised in Shanghai and educated in the United States, Dang’s work is shaped by the friction and fluidity between Eastern heritage and Western ideals. Her evolving practice navigates themes of cultural hybridity, fantasy, and visual storytelling with sharpness and vulnerability.
